Don't Stop Believing... (w/ Before and After pics)

{I've hesitated in posting this, but for my records to look back on, the babies could look back and learn something, and if it helps anyone else, it's a go! Plus, before and after pics at the end! Yikes!! ;-)}

In February I found myself in a frustrating spot.

I had gotten back down to my pre-baby weight and my tummy (you mamas know what I'm talkin' about) was going down and almost back to it's new normal ;) (takes a little longer after baby #3), but almost all of sudden my tummy sticking out again. Whyyyy? ;)

After much Googling (thanks alot ;)), and diagnosing myself with many different things, I landed on what I'm pretty certain the culprit was.

Stress. Apparently there is a direct brain gut reaction and it can literally ("litrally!") cause fat around the tummy. Not cool. Not. Cool.

We had some stressful things happening, nothing terrible by any means, and though I was trusting God the whole time, and knew He was in control, my body didn't follow that lead. Type A self!

I felt really uncomfortable with my appearance. And I apologized to God for saying I trusted Him but apparently hadn't completely let it go like I thought I had. My innerds were still holding on!

I was wearing what I called a, suck-it-in-shirt, under everything I wore, every single day. That is no way to live.;) And unless, and even if, I wore really flowy tops, I was still afraid someone was going to ask me when I was due. Insert fear and feeling bummed.

So it was time to do something about it. After talking a lot with Hubby, he sweetly said, you'll just have to work it off just like any other time. Sad face. I didn't want to have to do that, this was stress fat, it should vanish on it's own. I had already gotten my belly down from our third pregnancy! And now it was back in a different form. :(

It didn't vanish on it's own... so I got to work!

I had been doing Jillian's 30 Day Shred, not in 30 days ;), but I really wanted something new, something longer term, that had more DVDs, variety, and a system about it. After much research I was down to Insanity or what seemed to be a very new program Jillian's 90 Day Body Revolution. There weren't many reviews on Jillian's system because I think it was so new, but that is what I chose because the workouts were about 30 minutes long! And it came with 15 DVDs, resistance band, and meal plans, so there is a good amount of variety and I feel like I was able to build with each DVD.

I knew that I could do 30 minutes during naptime or another time during the day if I couldn't make naptime work some of the days. I was also worried about spending the money on it, but like Hubby said, we aren't part of a gym, and health is so important (and it fit into our budget). So I clicked purchase!

I started in May and for 8 weeks did the workouts 5-6 times a week! That was huge for me. Though I have worked out a lot before, this is the most consistent I have ever been. The next couple weeks went down to 4 times a week and the past week may have been 3, eeek. But I'm still going!

Here is the major point of this post! Get ready! ;)

I was pretty discouraged for quite some time, which is not good if you're trying to get rid of stress fat ;), because I was working so hard and not seeing results. Hubby kept telling me he was seeing results, sweet Hubby, but since I wasn't seeing or feeling it much, I was pretty bummed. (He says I have a skewed view of how I look ;))

Then all of a sudden at about the 8 week mark, I started really noticing a difference! My belly really started to flatten out again and get tighter. Meanwhile, I know that my arms and legs were seeing a difference too.

The past couple weeks haven't been as strong, I feel like I've lost a little of my progress, (I love food and sweets (dern DQ Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard) and have had a lot on my mind), but I'm still working it! And, you know, I would much rather workout than really limit my intake of yumminess (new word?).

Even though I have had friends and my amazing Hubby (all the time) tell me that I looked good, somehow I pretty much never believe them (still working on my self esteem issues, Hubby is amazing though :)). I just felt uncomfortable and uncomfortable in my clothes.

So, the Don't Stop Believing part!! Don't get discouraged if you have been or are working out for a while and don't see huge changes. Keep up your great work and it will happen! There may be times of a little back and forth too, but just keep working, and it'll happen! Don't stop believing!

Here is the current progression... PS I gained 55-65 lbs each pregnancy, don't judge, it's just what happens for me. ;) I weighed in last Thursday at the lowest I'm pretty sure I've ever been! Ever. I still have some more work to do on my belly, if something really stresses me out it seems like my belly bounces out again (a bit frustrating), but I'm keeping at it!

School Chairs DIY Makeover: Before and After!

I've been working really hard on creating a {Home}School Room for the littles (I really wanted to say babies... where oh where has the time gone ;))!

I wanted to have a space that is functional, fun, and fosters learning and excitement. I can't wait to show you the finished space! When it is finished ;)

I have done some DIYs for it and one project was their chairs! This was the first time I had done anything like this!

We have four of these chairs, passed down to us when we got married, over 9 years ago! The cushions, I wouldn't really call cushions, felt like you were sitting straight on the wood ;), and everything about them was dated (and stained, I don't even want to know how or why).

Here is the before and after!!

The how-to for the cushions :)

{This is the foam I used, from Hobby Lobby, don't forget to use a 40% coupon!}

How much did it cost??

1. Chairs: Old and Free! (We just lightly, aka quickly ;), sanded them :))
2. Fabric: $1.88/yard but didn't use full yard, used for other projects too! So we'll go with $1! Used 40% coupon at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 fabric :) And already had staple gun.
3. Foam: $16 after 40% coupon, used less than 1/2, so let's say $7. I was able to cut 4 cushions (for other two chairs that we have as well and still have some left over :))
4. Paint: Already had, did three coats. Started out by trying spray paint primer then white and it didn't work out well for me ;) It was probably me, I used so much and it still didn't cover great. So Hubby stepped in for me and painted them! :)

Total: $8!

(Or including my spray paint mishap $13 but I still have spray paint left for other more simple projects! ;))

We love how they turned out! They go perfectly in the School Room!

Pics that make me smile from the inside out

There are tough things, there are tough "days", there are discouraging situations, people that hurt you, (not gonna lie, blogging/etc. is one thing that has been a little tough on me lately), but I am so thankful for an incredible Hubby and the little family that God has so greatly blessed and entrusted us with, and true wonderful friends. Sometimes (read: all the time ;)) you just need to remember what is important and Who we are living for.

These pics bring it back. They make me smile. From the inside out. Then a big goofy smile. They make me/us so thankful and prayerful that we will live the right way. Serve the right Master.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether by speech or action, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Get ready for picture overload ;) You're welcome, Aunt Dottie! ;-)

Thank y'all for reading and hanging out with us! :)

Adoption Update!!

Oh friends and fam! I've missed y'all! I have been focusing on our little fam and everything that goes along with it. :) We've had sick weeks, adventure weeks, pool weeks, playdate weeks, and chill weeks. :) And after Hubby submits another big project this week, we're hoping to have a staycation week!

There is so much to update on! I still haven't written about the changes and things that have been going on with Uganda adoptions, I'm still going to! :) Oh dear, so many things to tell you! :)

But first, we wanted to give you the latest update.

Short story version........ ;-)

As most of you know, we are on the waiting list! In our referral (where they match your family with a little one) period! We still can't believe it and our hearts just warm up and we get so excited every time we talk about it, and maaaybe a little teary just thinking about it. ;)

We are in position #25!!!  (Eeee! We are just so excited :) It feels like it is far away, but we know He has a plan.)

Just a few more details version...... ;-)

We started this incredible (intricate... wonderful) journey, officially, in February. We had our homestudy completed and finalized by March and had our USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) approval in May! That is the huge step for Uganda (each country is so different), as once you receive USCIS approval you are placed on the waiting list.

At that time there were about 30 families on the waiting list. A couple months ago, our wonderful Uganda reps at our adoption agency started sending out detailed updates, once a month, about where each family is on the waitlist and how the previous month has looked with regards to referrals and most current information about adoptions in Uganda. It was a little discouraging that the first month or so, they only saw one referral come out. But we know, without a doubt, that everything is all in His PERFECT hands. Last month we were in position #28.

Also, with different age and gender requests, your position can jump around a little bit, so it doesn't necessarily happen exactly in order.

Despite different delays and changes in Ugandan adoptions (more on that soon, I promise! :)), our agency is still currently seeing that most families receive a referral in around 12 months (also depending on your age range/gender requests). We are going into our third month!

Things to come and prayer request!

We have so much to fill you in on regarding Ugandan adoptions and some pretty big news of some things coming up. You can pray for a big meeting that is coming up soon in Uganda! It could mean great things for Ugandan adoptions.

We would still so covet and appreciate your prayers for the little one that God has for our family, for our little fam, and a smooth process that happens in His timing (which we pray, if it's in His will ;), that it happens sooner than later :))!  We are just so excited about adding the little one He already has in mind, to our fam, to see in these pics with her excited, ready, siblings. We know, first hand, the power of prayer. Thank you so, so much!!

Beach Trip Quick Pics :)

We are back from the beach trip, to Emerald Isle, with Hubby's family. :) Our poor little sweets were sick pretty much the whole trip, and we had our first trip ever to the emergency room (in a nearby town) for our lil' HM, she is fine but it was so scary - we checked on her in her pack 'n play in the middle of the night and she was barely breathing/having so much trouble breathing, shaking, so scary - but we also made sure we had lots of fun too :)

Here are some of the things we did!

Spent lots of fam time together...
