Just the beginning!!!

We are so excited to share Just the beginning!!! I have mentioned it a little bit before and we've really been wanting to share this big post but were a little nervous to because we were so early in the process and then I had taken a bit of a bloggy break, so now we finally get to properly post! We are beyond excited...

We are adopting!!!

We are so excited to share all of the details! I have shared on the ole blog a few times in the past several years that our hearts were hoping to one day add a little one into our family through adoption. Oh it just gives me chills of excitement just "talking" about it. :)

Hubby and I have talked about adoption since we were married (9 years ago this summer! and maybe even before, we can't remember now ;)). There are so many littles, who need a loving, secure family for life. A few years ago we started talking about it more and more as a near possibility. We prayed about it and waited for the time for our family. Very shortly after we got pregnant with our 3rd goofalicious little, we began our serious discussions of adding our 4th sweet little into our family through adoption.

The next part of the discussion was where. Domestic or international. It is a huge debate.

Here is what we believe... Any form of adoption is amazing, no matter where from. Ultimately, a little one needs a home, a loving family for a lifetime.

We researched, sought wisdom from friends who have adopted, and discussed all of the variables and facts of domestic and international adoption. I will be honest (as usual), we, Hubby especially, had concerns about international adoption because of the travel and mostly leaving our current littles while we have to travel. They're our people!

As we continued to pray and talk about adoption, other questions and concerns popped up. But, one by one, God gave us peace, working and speaking to us in His own ways, including through three of Hubby's business meetings within two weeks :), to diffuse each concern and make both of us still stronger in our decision. We also continued to strengthen one another through prayer and patient discussion--when one of us had a concern, the other was strong, felt peace in that area, and was able to help the other feel peace and comfort. God is awesome. He knows what's what.

We prayed, we talked, we happily and seriously discussed, we had a pull to Uganda for a long time, continued to discuss, continued to pray, and together we carefully considered and sought God. We discussed our thoughts, feelings, and facts on both domestic and international adoption. Every time we discussed it, we both felt led to Uganda. Every time.

For a while, as much as we have a heart for Uganda, we fought the tugs and looked for a potentially “easier” place to adopt from, in large part because of the travel and in-country time. But still, every time, we couldn't fight the facts we kept reading and hearing, and the Holy Spirit provided peace and nudged us towards Uganda.

Every time. Both of us.

We have been sponsoring two little ones in Uganda through Compassion for years, since BabyBoy was little, (one more recently) and will be sponsoring another soon. While it is a wonderful thing to help little ones from families in need, we also want to care for the orphan, the abandoned.

For now, one orphan, for life.

So we kept asking each other, day after day, “So, is it Uganda?” ;) And again, we both kept saying, “I think so!”

And then God started preparing our hearts and spirits even more for the journey ahead. He started working out details already, that only He could have worked out. And it has given both of us such peace with the concerns we had. And we know He will continue to do that, especially as the time will get closer to travel.

So, the answer is yes! We are adopting from Uganda!

We have done so much research about adoption from Uganda and many other areas as well. We have completed so much adoption education (SO much :) deets to come), which has been wonderful.

We are so... so excited!!! Our little ones are so excited about adding a sibling to our family! BabyBoy already refers to her by a name he thinks would be a good name for her ;) He has talked about singing songs for her when she comes to be home with us. Both boys are so excited about having another little sister! And Littlest is so excited about having a lil’ sis, she doesn’t even know it yet. ;-)

Our little family is standing together, with all of our arms wide open, and our faith placed in God, His perfect timing, and His perfect plan through the whole process. We couldn’t be more excited about this journey that God has our family on and we cannot wait to see our whole lil’ family of 6 together in the end!!

We cannot tell you enough how much we appreciate your prayers for our family, the huge process ahead, and for the little one God will place in our family! We would be so honored and blessed to have you on this long and bumpy and amazing journey with us!

The latest! Our home study was completed and finalized last month and is off with the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Imigration Services) for approval (which can take 90 days)!! Which is a huge step in the process! We just had our biometrics fingerprinting done on Friday (appointment made by USCIS!), which was a huge deal for us, another big step in the process!!**

More about the process and what all of it means, next! There have also been changes in the Uganda adoption process recently, which we will share as well! :-)

James 1:27 Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans & widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

Ephesians 1:5-6 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.

**Ok, story about our biometrics fingerprint appointment because Hubby keeps making fun of me (in a loving way of course). ;) Our appointment was for 8am for about an hour away, didn't know how bad traffic might be, and could not, be late! So we got up at 5, babies up at 5:45, and were on on our way just after 6am! We stopped for gas and a egg white, turkey sausage, and cheese bagel sandwich, and you know when feeding a baby food such as this, you have to tear it apart a little and it just gets a little messy. I told Hubby we can't just sanitize our hands, because if we have dried cheese on our fingers, it's going to mess up our fingerprints and then they'll either send us back for more or it'll show that we have some big terrible past, ha! So we got there at about 7:15, scoped the place out, then found a hotel across the street to wash our hands (I may have gone back in after Hubby took his turn, to wash mine again ;-)), and then went for our appointment. I may have been a little OCD about clean hands and fingers but at least we know that we won't have dried cheese prints for USCIS. hehe. ;)

I hop over to your blog and read sometimes. Excited to hear you're adopting from Uganda! My husband and I are currently 15 months into the process of adopting from Bulgaria. At this point we think we're about halfway there. We just finished updating our home study, and we'll redo our USCIS fingerprints in a couple months. It's always fun to find someone else on this journey.
