Cracked!

BabyBoy's tooth! A little piece of the bottom is cracked off! Front right top tooth, cracked.

We have no idea how it happened! I mean he is a little speedster, has little regard for what might happen, trots full speed, without warning, he bites it into the carpet (or ceramic tile :)). Ok, the majority of the time he catches himself with his hands, but, there he goes. :)

The other day he slid down the slide at the park for one of his first times not holding our hands. He did such a great job and then right at the landing almost landed it beautifully then fell face first into the sand!! He had a mouth and bottom teeth full of sand, a sand goatee, even some sand around his eyes. Our friends were there to attest, he did not even fuss once, in the slightest bit. He just took some sips of water to wash it down. Well first we wiped the small bucketfull out first :) I felt so bad (but was also laughing on the inside, ok well a little on the outside too!).

Back to the tooth! At church last week, we picked him up, woman said oh he did great I had to pick him up and give him a big hug he's so cute, it didn't hurt that he walked right up to her and said up up up until she picked him up :) ahh cute!

As we were walking out it looked like he had dried blood in his nose! Huh?! Dried blood? A bloody nose? Nobody said anything, it was the oddest thing.

He rarely has bruises, scraps, or cuts, but he definitely bites it into the floor a lot!

He's going to look like a pirate!!! It's not going to fall out for years! We're going to have to teach him to say, arrr maytee!! Noo!

My Macy (youngest) has chipped right tooth. See my blog for the story. We call her snaggle tooth. Yes, we need pictures. If you look closely at some of my pictures you can see it.

If its really bad, I think the dentist can "fix" it - especially because its going to be around with him for a few years still. They can put like a bonding thing on it - I think....if its bad - maybe you can check it out....but if he's going to keep gnawing on tile (wink) then it's probably not worth doing!

Oh I hope the slide was not the culprit! He was such a trooper! Do babies need to see the dentist when this happens? I have no clue about those things... baby teeth that is. And, Happy B-Day to daddy/hubby!

Poor guy! It's a good thing it was a baby tooth.

My mom lost both her front teeth in a playground slide accident when she was something like 3 years old...and of course all her elementary school photos through the early 60s feature her gap-toothed smile, until those adult chompers came through. Pretty cute! :-p

I totally understand. Wesley's front left tooth his chipped and both front teeth are damaged but the dentist said the permanent teeth look great. Thank God! He fell so many times when he started running that I thought both of the teeth would be knocked out before he went to kindergarten.

Here is the story of the first trip to the dentist, http://www.sturgills.com/2008/08/his-two-front-teeth.html

Poor guy! At least it will eventually be replaced even if it is years from now. It will give him character and a little trademark :-)

Oh my goodness, the same exact thing happened to our younger son Graham...TWICE. He has matching (or mismatching) chipped front teeth. I have gotten used to it, but when I really look, I am amazed. Both times we had no idea how it happened.

Boys will be boys...

Awww, I'm so sorry to hear about his tooth! You'll have to post pics of him in a Halloween costume! :)

Thank you forthe kind comments! I lived in Phoenix for 7 years before moving to NYC, and the fiance is from there. We met and fell in love in PHX, so thought it only right we get married there :) Where in AZ are you??

My two year old has done the same thing. It's one of her front teeth too. We have no idea how she did it, and she never once complained about hurting her mouth. It's a mystery!

Bless his heart!!! Sometimes I think things just pop up on babies with no reason at all :)

A pic would help, but you'd be amazed at how kids can camouflage this stuff with cuteness. And how quickly it will file itself down. You could always take him to a pediatric dentist, especially if you thought it was jagged or up in the root.
