Spill It!

Ok girls, I thought it would be fun to learn some wild and fun facts about each other!

So the question is...Do you have a hidden talent? Or what's one org, club, or event were you involved in when you were a youngster, or anytime really, it's all game?!

Can you flair your nostrils, can you raise one eyebrow, can you hop on one foot forwards while singing the alphabet backwards you know you have to try it now, were you on the debate team, cheerleading, math league, history club, women's kickboxing, spelling bees, girl scouts (a brownie, a daisy, a junior?), women's wrestling...what was it! Spill it, we want all the juicy details!

I used to be on a Jump Rope Demonstration Team in elementary school. Don't be jealous but we were pretty darn good! We were the Ridge R0pers and we rocked the house. It was only for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, you had to be an older more established elementarian (?). Oh we did it all, double dutch, individual, and team routines! Oh yeah! White shorts and blue shirts, super cute, hair in a ponytail of course, or maybe even french braided! I think we had 40, 50, maybe 60 on the squad. Oh yeah, I said it, squad. Five of us were chosen one year to go to a national conference! National conference you say, yes friends, we got together with many other states, I can't remember now, but it was a super cool time! We went to Atlanta, jumped in the C0ca C0la Fact0ry and everything! It was a blast! If I could find a picture in my Mom's boxes I'd post one for you, if I find it I'll let you know :) I think it should be part of the Olympics really! Maybe I'll start it for the summer of 2012! Edited to add: and how could I forget we even jumped during half time of a men's basketball game at GMU. We were pro really!

Ok let's hear your talents or fun and crazy things you were a part of that most people (or most of us) wouldn't know about you! I'm curious to see who's is the most obscure! Even if yours isn't crraazy, share on! Feel free to link (put your address) for videos or pictures, he!

Edited to add: I'm trying to catch up on your blogs but it's not letting me comment, I'll have to get Hubby's computer tonight! And first time commenters, let's hear it too!

Jump Roping is awesome!!

I was on the Pom Squad for 4 years, captain 2 years! I was also in the Acapella Choir all my years of jr and high school. I loved to sing and dance!! When I was in 6th Grade - I was Suzy Snowflake in our Winter Musical and sang a jazzed up version of Jingle Bells at a Razorback Basketball Halftime Show!! Too funny - but I loved it!!!

2nd grade was a good year for me: I won the school's bubblegum bubble blowing contest and I won the invention fair. My invention? A forked stick with duct tape around the ends to help me grab cups from high up cabinets. I got my picture in the paper and everything.

I did drama club, choir, and show choir in high school. I loved the competitions for choir.

And my hidden talent is that I can spin wool to thread, I know how to "wash" butter, and I used to wear a 19th century "village floozy" dress to work.

I'm an awesome car dancer. Seriously, I can shake it in the car. I have the best moves ever.

I can harmonize to any song, any time - even the ones you wouldn't ordinarily harmonize to. Like a song by Puddle of Mudd or Staind. I'm a harmonizing freak.

Oh yeah. (o:

Fun idea for a post!

I played slow pitch softball in junior high, did two years of cheerleader in high school, yearbook and and even played the flute for a year somewhere in there. I even participated in the youth choir senior year at IBC - can you believe they used to have one!

I was a brownie and a girl scout until I reached 5th grade, that's where my uniform days pretty much ended!

I can't really think of a hidden talent accept for my uncanny ability to be able to tell you every movie an actor or actress has been in when at the theater. I usually resist the temptation when I am with my friends who like to just watch the movie minus the side commentary ;).

In 8th grade I played the Queen of know, before I was actually the Queen of Hearts. (FYI for those that don't know we held the infamous Farmer's Hearts Tournament for FIVE years in NoVA)

Back in the day when the YMCA threw caution to the wind, I learned to dive down for rings underwater at 14 months.

I won the Reading Rainbow writing contest in First Grade.

I was my high school mascot, but I was a big secret and never told anyone who I was.

I played field hockey for a few years in high school JUST FOR THE SKIRT.

I can flare my nostrils - really, it's a family trait. I remember when I was little, my friends would make me laugh just to see my nostrils flare!

Back then it was an embarrassment, today it's a talent :)

Cute post!

I was ranked in Kung-Fu as a teen! Had my black belt at 16 yrs old & even had to teach GROWN MEN how to kick butt - how funny is that!!! Started when I was 7 years old. Loved it & encourage every parent to put their daughters in some sort of martial art!

Ha! Ha! Simply Jenn-sational's comment made me lol.

I qualified in State in 5 events my Junior and Senior year of high school: the 4X100, 4X200, 4X400, discus, and the shot put! I'm only 5'4 and was going up against gorillas in the field events!

We 3-peated in State in Texas and I think we still hold the record for the 4x400 relay.

What can I say, I was fast...but not cheap!

I was on the Drama team at my school and my church.. I did get kicked out of my drama class though because I refused to do a monolouge about abortion. But I did win a lot of competitions through my church.. This also got me money for college.. So whoo Hoo

Jump roping? I LOVE that! What a cool talent. I bet it would be fun showing off to your kids...I can't think of any talent except that I can name all 50 states in alphabetical order. That doesn't come in too handy though.

I can throw a football like a guy, I can roll my tongue and twist it both ways, I can cross one eye while keeping the other straight and I'm actually really good at starting fires. HAHA I know that sounds bad but with kindling and twisting the paper...I was the go-to kid to help with that on camping trips.

I was a majorette in high school. That was definitely the extent of my athletic abilities!!! When I was 5 years old I signed a modeling contract...unfortunately Vogue never called and I am pretty sure that since I was 5 I never actually signed my name to a piece of paper. Love that comment about the car dancer!

You have a prize on my blog!

These are cracking me up! What a good idea for a post! I was a crazy speller--won spelling bees and even went to a UIL competition in high school. What a dork, eh? I also modeled as a teenager in Japan--random! And I was into drama in high school, no surprise there! :)

Oh, you and I would have got along so well in elementary school! I was a jumprope F.R.E.A.K.!! :) Too bad they didn't have that at my school!

I was one of four people from my school in 6th grade, that made our Honor Choir. This was a HUGE event in that a few chosen kids that tried out from all schools in that county (this was in California, so there were like a million schools in one county) came together and, with much practice, sang infront of thousands of people. It was really neat and something I will never forget. I still remember most of the songs that we sang!

I never sang in choir after that!
I am double jointed in my shoulder blades. (weird!) I am a dancing freak now! I love to dance and could dance to almost anything!! :) I think that's all!

Cute post! :)

Great idea for a post! I won a poem contest in 2nd grade...that's probably the last time I've ever recited a poem too! I also cheered in high school - basically because I couldn't play any other sports, but I loved it!

hmm, I was a freshman varsity cross country runner! But that is boring! Let's have some fun. After my broken engagement where he knocked up an 18 year I held the record for my group of Austin friends on the most free drinks in downtown!!! One of the best summer's of my life. Oh, I did share the wealth!

What a fun idea - I don't know that this is a hidden talent but it is something not many people know about me... I have my motorcycle license. haha I haven't rode since I got it years ago so I would never trust myself on a bike now...

Jump rope! Awesome LOL

I was on the dance team, only my senior year because I was too afraid to try out for anything and I finally got the nerve that year. I loved it!

I was also in a few pageants, never won any. They sent me right into a panic attack, too much stress for me.

Now, I mainly am a bargain finder, if you can call that a talent LOL

I have been a dancer my entire life...and now that I'm reading my comment, I realize I have danced in a LONG time :(
I started twirling and tap when I was two years old. WOW....that was LONG time ago! I was on the dance team in high school, the top officer on the team my senior year, danced in Junior College and was the head officer for two years, then went on to Sam Houston State University and received my Bachelors in Dance. I taught high school and middle school dance teams and even opened my dance studio before moving to Jacksonville.
Now I work at a performing arts school as an Asst. Principal...but I'm sure you can guess which art area I'm always visiting :)

Great idea for a post!

Well, this one is an odd hidden talent for sure. I can almost always tell if someone is pregnant way before they start telling everyone. (I usually don't say anything until after the news is out, because, really , why take the fun out of a friend's being able to announce the news?) It is a very strange sixth sense.

Other than that, I have NO talents or unique gifts, other than being able to nap anywhere at any time. (But I think that's called "lazy" rather a talent.)
